Peter Andre reveals he decided to give up his reality TV show after his brother Andrew’s death in 2012 because he was ‘constantly breaking down’ while filming

Peter Andre has said he gave up reality TV because he was ‘constantly breaking down’ on set after his late brother Andrew died in 2012.

The TV personality, 48, reflected on his decision to no longer let cameras into his home in his latest column for new! magazine on Tuesday.

He discussed his show Peter Andre: My Life, which he starred in from 2009 to 2013 alongside his children Junior, 15, and Princess, 13, and wife Emily, 31, and it depicted his daily life following his divorce from ex-wife Katie Price.

Peter and his children Junior and Princess rewatched the show for their YouTube channel, and the singer admitted it was ‘crazy’ to relive the experience.

He explained: ‘It really was amazing reliving those incredible moments. I’m really enjoying the YouTube vlogs and they’re something fun we can do as a family.

‘I often get asked why I stopped filming our reality show when it was doing so well and I guess there were a number of factors, the main one being when I lost my brother Andrew in 2012.

‘Even though ITV were very kind to give me a month off filming, when I went to film again I was constantly breaking down and I realised it was time to take a long break from doing the show.’

The show ran for ten series with 77 episodes coming out in total, and the seventh and eighth series saw him spend time with his brother during his battle with kidney cancer.

Andrew travelled from Australia to Brighton to be with Peter, and the programme showed him as he had his chemotherapy treatment.

Following news of Andrew’s death, the show was postponed and broadcast with a week’s break, while Peter didn’t return to the show until 2013.

Peter Andre: My Life continued for a further two series, but after a Christmas special in 2013 he did not continue with the programme.

Peter has had a lot of experience with reality TV, as he and ex-wife Katie met on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004 and were married the following year.

They appeared on their own reality show together, released singles as a duo and hosted a chat show in their years as a married couple, but ultimately split in 2009.

He went on to marry doctor wife Emily in 2015, and they share children Amelia, seven, and Theo, four, together, though they both try to keep them out of the public eye and don’t show their faces in pictures.
