‘It has deep underlying meanings’: Jack Vidgen discussed the meaning of his new single Pray and how it ‘represents’ his coming out journey in the March issue of A Modern Gay’s Guide

Pray features lyrics such as ‘Who are you to tell me what I should do?’ and ‘I’m going to pray for you / ‘Cause I’m not going to change for you’.

The Australia’s Got Talent winner said the song ‘has very deep underlying meanings but it kind of represents my last kind of, I guess, four years since coming out really’.

‘Being a bit of a club kid and getting to know what being gay and being gay in Sydney is like, and what that scene is like and discovering yourself – it kind of represents a whole lot of that,’ he explained.

Jack is to take part in Sydney’s Mardi Gras festival and sing Ultra Naté’s dance hit Free on furniture brand Koala’s float, on Saturday.

He revealed to The Daily Telegraph that his appearance would be the first time he has ever participated in the parade, despite coming out as gay at age 19.

‘It is really nice to be in a place where I can be openly myself and be gay and proud and be really happy with that,’ Jack told the publication.
