A carer who was driving a car while high on cocaine has been sacked after she was using her uniform in a bid to make unnecessary lockdown journeys.

Police pulled over Lilian Wyn Binyon who pleaded guilty to drug-driving at Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court in September last year.

The 32-year-old carer from North Wales had been working as a domiciliary care worker for Carelink Homecare Services in Llangefni, Anglesey.

Following her conviction, Binyon was brought to a disciplinary hearing by Social Care Wales.

A misconduct hearing was told she attempted to give the ‘false impression that she was working in her registered role’.

The bogus journey took place while the UK was under strict ‘stay at home’ rules in April last year.

The Fitness to Practise panel heard Binyon also had 82mg of benzoylecgonine in her system during the journey – a product of cocaine.

The Social Care Wales hearing was told Binyon also had another two convictions for driving under the influence of cocaine.

She has now been removed from the register after the panel found her actions amounted to serious misconduct.
