Lorraine Kelly has slammed the online trolls who told her she was ‘going to die’ after receiving the coronavirus vaccine

The presenter, 61, shared a video of her getting the Covid-19 Oxford/ AstraZeneca vaccine to her Instagram last Friday, where she revealed the experience was ’emotional.

However, the host found herself hitting back at the backlash on her ITV show on Thursday, telling Dr Hilary Jones: ‘There’s some seriously stupid people out there!’

Shocking: Lorraine Kelly has slammed the online trolls who told her she was ‘going to die’ after receiving the coronavirus vaccine

Speaking following the backlash against her post, Lorraine said: ‘The reason we put stuff online is to encourage people to have the vaccine. I couldn’t believe the comments I got.

‘There’s some seriously stupid people out there.’

She went on: ‘There’s people who have obviously got concerns and I get them completely but there’s different to having concerns and people saying to me “you are going to die” because I got the vaccine. I mean, come on.’

Dr Hilary also had his say on the trolls while also slamming conspiracy theorists.

The GP, 67, said: ‘There are some ill informed people and there are some down right fantasists, The vaccine doesn’t contain nano particles that control what you do!

‘It is beyond comprehension. This is not an experimental vaccine. 23 million people have been vaccinated with no major side effects. It’s a triumph. It really is.’

It comes after veteran TV presenter Lorraine expressed her gratitude last week after receiving the dose alongside her partner, Steve Smith, as she stated the jab ‘was a breeze’.

She said on her daytime ITV show: ‘That was so good, that was me on Friday getting my vaccine.

‘Steve was filming me and getting it done as well. It was great, it was actually very emotional and I really feel as if I’ve achieved something.

‘It was a breeze and how lucky are we to have the vaccine?’

‘Please please get vaccinated!! We are so lucky to have the opportunity Xxx’. (sic)

There are now more than 1,600 vaccination sites in England and almost 23million people have had at least one dose of a coronavirus jab.

And as he revealed that he felt no pain or discomfort as a result of the vaccine, Phillip also urged those waiting for the jab to not be nervous.
