Gossip Girl’s cast is pictured hard at work on the New York City set of the upcoming HBO Max show

The cast of Gossip Girl was spotted hard at work on the upcoming show’s New York City set on Monday morning.

At one point, several background actors and actresses were seen flooding the stairs outside a brick building while filming a scene where school was being let out for the day.

Afterwards, various principal cast members were spotted filming their own parts and socializing with one another as the crew worked on the upcoming first season of the soft reboot.

Jordan Alexander was first seen walking in front of many of the show’s extras and appeared to be happy to have returned to set.

The actress was seen wearing a long navy blue jacket on top of a shirt featuring a lighter shade of the same color, as well as a tie and black shorts.

Alexander was later seen locking arms with her costar Emily Alyn Lind; the two appeared to be having a great time on set as they laughed while strolling down a city sidewalk.

Lind was costumed in a knitted white cardigan, which she contrasted with a pair of black leggings and matching heeled shoes.

Her beautiful blonde hair paired well with the stark white color of her shirt and slightly creamier shade of her handbag.

The Revenge actress was later seen flashing two peace signs as she walked past the large group of background actors and actresses.

Several other actors from the upcoming reboot were seen working on the set, including Evan Mock, who is set to portray Aki Menzies.

The actor was costumed in an oversized school uniform; his tightly cut pink hair stood out against the more tame colors of his outfit.

He was later seen speaking to his costar Eli Brown, who kept his school day costume much more casual with a white shirt and an orange crewneck sweater underneath a blue jacket; he also wore a pair of khaki pants to tie off his outfit.

Brown was also pictured spending time with Whitney Peak, whose costume deviated from the rest of the cast, as she wore a wintertime patterned sweater and Doc Marten-style boots.

The pair were seen wearing white facial coverings while interacting with members of the production crew.

Zion Moreno and Savannah Smith rounded out the day’s shooting cast, and posed together while showing off their elaborately designed costumes.

The upcoming Gossip Girl series is envisioned as a soft reboot of the former CW mainstay, which aired from 2007 until 2012.

The original show was based on the novel series of the same, which was primarily written by Cecily von Ziegesar.

Much like its predecessor, the new Gossip Girl will focus on a group of teenagers at a New York City prep school whose social lives are reported on by the titular character.

Kristen Bell, who voiced the Gossip Girl but was never seen, will return to the rebooted series in the same capacity.

Development on the new version of the show began in 2019, when a revival was ordered for HBO Max, where it will eventually premiere.

The original series’ showrunner Joshua Safran was confirmed to be returning to the team, as well as executive producer Josh Schwartz.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Safran spoke about how the rise of social media will be reflected in the new version of the show.

Specifically, the showrunner noted that social media would change ‘the dynamic of what Gossip Girl means and how Gossip Girl interacts with the kids this day and age, so I think it’s gonna be really interesting to see.’

Safran also spoke about how the new version of the show would take place in the same timeline as the original, and how he thought the old show’s themes would carry over into the coming episodes.

‘I think of it like the Marvel universe. It’s not a continuation or a sequel. It truly just is looking at a different angle…it has the DNA of the original,’ he said.

The new version of Gossip Girl is set to premiere at an unspecified date this year.
