Demi Lovato on Monday revealed she’s releasing her next album, Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over, next month.

The 28-year-old singer broke the news during a Clubhouse livestream, saying the album will come out April 2.

The Anyone artist said that the album was initially titled The Art of Starting Over, but she appended it to include the name of her forthcoming documentary Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil, as the projects complement one another.

‘If you listen to it track by track, if you follow the track listing, it’s kind of actually like the non-official soundtrack to the documentary. Because it really does follow my life over the past couple of years,’ Lovato said.

She continued: ‘The documentary is something that I poured my heart and soul into. I wanted my fans to get the first-hand accounts from not just me but the people who were there … it really does follow the course of my life and the path it’s taken over the past few years.’

She said that her own self-awakening is seen over the course of the doc, adding, ‘Every aspect of who I am has personality now because I have a better insight into who I am and what I want out of life.’

The Still Have Me performer explained how she curated the sequencing on the 19-track album, her first since 2017 release Tell Me You Love Me.

‘When we went through the track listing and kind of mapped out how it kind of coincided with my life’s story, it made sense to add the more emotional stuff in the beginning and then transition into The Art of Starting Over.’

She said that the record will include material that falls under multiple genres, incorporating country, pop and R&B.

On Monday, Lovato took to Instagram with a shot of the album cover. She captioned the shot: ‘Dancing With The Devil… The Art Of Starting Over #DWTDTAOSO Album out April 2!’

Lovato is slated to debut her doc at the SXSW Film Festival and on YouTube beginning March 23.

In a preview for the documentary released last month, Lovato said that in the wake of her overdose in 2018, she had a heart attack and three strokes.

‘I’ve had so much to say over the past two years wanting to set the record straight about what it was that happened,’ Lovato said. ‘I’ve had a lot of lives. Like my cat, you know? I’m on my ninth life.’
