The Voice: Kelly Clarkson tries to lure singer from Blake Shelton with fake video of his fiancee

Kelly Clarkson tried to use Blake Shelton’s fiancée Gwen Stefani to steal an artist from him on Monday’s episode of The Voice.

She strung together video clips of Gwen, 51, to make the case for why country singer Jordan Matthew Young, 34, should choose her over Blake, 44.

‘Blake loves this person,’ hinted Kelly, 38. ‘And I think this person should maybe tell you who you should go with, and who you maybe shouldn’t.’

The No Doubt bombshell immediately appeared on a big screen, and in an obviously stitched-together sentence said, ‘I would say maybe Kelly will be the best choice to go with.’

‘I mean Blake Shelton would be terrible as a coach,’ Gwen robotically added in scenes from several different episodes of The Voice. ‘I love Kelly. She is perfect for you.’

Both Kelly and Blake loved Jordan’s craggy vocals on Keith Whitley’s I’m No Stranger To The Rain, with Blake telling him, ‘I don’t get to work with guys like you that often on the show.’

Rapid-fire, Kelly quipped, ‘You don’t normally work with country male singers on this show?’

‘Not like Jordan, I don’t,’ Blake returned, as the contestant chose him.

‘Jordan, I tried, man,’ Kelly apologized afterward. ‘And Gwen, I’m so sorry he let you down, too. It’s just a sad day.’

The Stronger singer made up for the loss when she nabbed four-chair turn Anna Grace, 20, from Milwaukee.

Anna’s rendition of Billie Eilish’s My Future hypnotized the panel, and everyone fought for her.

Kelly, however, was an obvious choice for Anna, who nearly died of a blood infection in 2017.

‘Is music kind of therapeutic for you?’ the coach asked her, and when Anna said yes, Kelly acknowledged, ‘That’s how it is for me.’

Nick Jonas, 28, still tried to woo Anna, saying, ‘I went on the Internet, and this is what the Internet has to say about Kelly.’

He then showed a meme on a big screen that featured Kelly hanging her head, and a title that read, ‘When you can’t face the reality Nick is the best coach.’

That changed to a meme of John Legend, 42, captioned ‘Not-so Legend,’ and a picture of Blake holding a dog that said, ‘Puppy Hater.’

‘We’ve got a lot of delusion to the left of me,’ Kelly said, laughing, as Anna joined her team.

Kelly also picked up Savanna Woods, 26, from Stanwood, Washington, who did what she called a ‘creepy’ version of the Cranberries song Zombie.

Savanna had gotten lots of rehearsal time singing as she traveled the globe, and marveled, ‘You can literally do anything you want to in life.’

‘I think you’re cool as hell,’ Kelly said, after listening to her. ‘I don’t think there’s been anyone like you on the six seasons I’ve been here.’

The next contestant, Rachel Mac, 15, from Romeo, Michigan, then performed a Patty Griffin song called Let Him Fly.

Rachel’s pretty vocals captured Nick’s attention, and she ended up on his team.

‘Rachel is an exciting vocalist, ’cause she can kind of do anything,’ Nick said.

He subsequently scored Lindsay Joan, 22, a pop vocalist from San Diego, who sang a stunning version of Halsey’s Nightmare.

Though Nick and Blake both turned for her, Lindsay said Kelly had changed her life ‘in so many ways.’

‘I bet she did a PowerPoint,’ John cracked.

‘I actually did in the fourth grade,’ Lindsay said. ‘A PowerPoint on Kelly Clarkson and Elvis Presley. I got a B+!’

Rio Doyle, 16, from Adrian, Michigan, often played music with her mom, a rocker who’d been diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016.

She poured her soul into a cover of Adele’s When We Were Young, for which only John turned.

He sang the song he usually sang for new team members, but modified it to say, ‘You’re on The Voice, and I was your only choice.’

Savanna Chestnut, 25, from Americus, Kansas, went straight for Team Blake after he turned for her version of the Thompson Twins’ Hold Me Now.

Stripped of its ’80s dance beats, the countrified song showed the coaches her creative edge, and Blake said she was ‘this close’ to big-time success.

R&B belter Zania Alaké, 34, a single mom and banker from Detroit, scored chair turns from Kelly and John with her soaring cover of Anita Baker’s Sweet Love.

Everyone assumed she’d pick John, and she did.

Not going through was an indie-folk duo named Almond&Olive, from Chicago, who sang Tom Petty’s Wildflowers with accompaniment on banjo and guitar.

Nadiani Cole, 20, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, also had no luck with Brandy’s I Wanna Be Down, which the coaches said was pitchy and behind the beat.

Tyler Kohrs, 27, from Nashville, sang Ingrid Andress’ More Hearts than Mine, and didn’t make it either.

The Voice will return Monday on NBC.
