‘The police can’t do anything, Instagram WON’T do anything so we deal with it ourselves.

‘Feel free to report them, I don’t have the energy anymore. If you think I’m encouraging them by sharing their abuse, then you’re part of the problem.’

The trolls appeared to be sending her abuse following a tense debate with Phillip Schofield over the ‘not all men’ argument following the death of Sarah Everard.

Despite trying to get help from police and Instagram after receiving the messages, Nicola claimed they were unable to do anything about it.

During her debate on This Morning, Nicola said: ‘Not all men are abusers, but all men, I think at some point in their lives, have passed up an opportunity to call out abuse and I’m not just talking about…’

Before she could finish, Phil stepped in and said ‘I haven’t’, and Nicola asked if he was sure and he claimed: ‘No, not to my knowledge.’

Nicola made the point that he was ‘one of the “not all men” then’, to which Phil said: ‘I suspect there are a great many men who… And I’m hearing in the gallery now a number of men saying: “No, that hasn’t happened to me”.’

She hit back: ‘I find that really difficult to believe because I as a woman have even been in a situation where I have seen somebody being harassed, or lads talking about a woman in a certain way, and I’ve felt like I haven’t been able to step in.

‘It doesn’t mean you’re at fault, but it means that you have missed out on an opportunity to be part of the solution.’
