Lena Headey is set to star in and executive produce sci-fi series Beacon 23 for AMC and Spectrum Originals

Lena Headey has found a new TV project, boarding Beacon 23, a joint production between Spectrum Originals and AMC Networks.

The show was originally picked up back in October, which will have a nine-month exclusive window for Spectrum cable subscribers before moving to AMC Networks.

Zak Penn (The Avengers) is adapting the series from the New York Times best selling book of the same name by Hugh Howey, and serving as showrunner.

Headey will portray Aster, a woman who somehow makes her way to a ‘lonely beacon keeper on his lighthouse in the darkest recesses of space.’

Headey will star in the series as, Aster, a woman who mysteriously finds her way to a lonely beacon keeper on his lighthouse in the darkest recesses of space. 

The show follows Aster and the lighthouse keeper Halan, as they become trapped together at the end of the known universe, where a ‘tense battle of wills unfolds.’

Halan must determine whether Aster is ‘friend or foe,’ since she has the ability to ‘disguise her agenda and her motives,’ making her a ‘formidable opponent.’  

Aside from starring, Headey will also serve as an executive producer through her company Peephole Productions, through her first look deal with Boat Rocker Studios

‘Lena Headey was a wonderful, versatile actress before she gave one of the defining performances in television history,’ creator Zak Penn said, referring to Headey’s portrayal of Cersei Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones.

‘We couldn’t be more excited to go on this thrill ride with Lena and Zak leading the way,’ Pope added.

Headey will voice Evil-Lyn in the upcoming Netflix animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation.

She also has a new movie called Crooks in pre-production, where she stars alongside Juno Temple and Mark Kassen.
