Beyoncé has sparked speculation that she and her husband Jay-Z were the people to buy The Notorious B.I.G.’s $6 plastic crown for staggering $594K at auction.

In September last year, the crown The Notorious B.I.G donned for his final portrait shoot in 1997 with photographer Barron Claiborne sold for an eye-popping $594,750.

In a snap similar to Biggie Smalls’ portrait shared on Thursday, Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy was seen celebrating her first Grammy win by using the coveted award as a sippy cup while wearing the crown.

She and her oldest child won Best Music Video for Brown Skin Girl from The Lion King: The Gift, making Blue the second youngest Grammy winner.

Taking home Best R&B Performance for her single Black Parade, Beyoncé reached 28 total wins, making her the most awarded singer and the most awarded female artist of all time.

In September, the winning bidder, believed to be named Emily, received the plastic-jewelled head-wear autographed by the Brooklyn rap legend himself along with a 36 x 40 chromogenic print of the image and the original contact sheet.

After revealing the picture, some fans speculated that the Halo hitmaker was actually the person behind the purchase.

One person commented: ‘You can be certain that is Biggie crown.’

Referring to Jay-Z, one person wrote: ‘I knew he had to be the one to put up half a million,’ while another added: ‘BIG inspiration crazy tho’

The Sotheby’s description revealed at the time: ‘[His label head] Sean “Diddy” Combs had accompanied Biggie on the shoot, and was reportedly unhappy with the concept, as he worried it made Biggie look like “the Burger King.”

‘Thankfully, Biggie was game to give it a try; the result is one of most stunning and iconic portraits.’

Biggie Smalls’ son C. J. Wallace from his marriage to Grammy winner Faith Evans livestreamed the auction via Instastory and provided hilarious commentary throughout.

‘They going back and forth. Emily and Ella, two white girls love hip hop!’ the 23-year-old heir laughed during the bidding. ‘I’m tripping like, why?’
