  •  According to the publication, it was no easy task taking the Bandit hitmaker into custody as he stopped the car and ran off

NBA YoungBoy is now federal custody after LAPD arrested him as he allegedly even tried to flee the scene.

TMZ reported on Monday that the FBI and police attempted to pull the 21-year-old rapper – born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden- over because he had an outstanding federal warrant.

According to the publication, it was no easy task taking the Bandit hitmaker into custody as he stopped the car and ran off.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that officers had set up a perimeter and brought in the K-9 unit to help find YoungBoy. 

The police insiders claim that police dog did not bite him but was able to sniff him out.

It has also been reported that law enforcement had found a firearm in the vehicle but it remains unclear if it belonged to the  Kacey Talk rapper.

 Youngboy has had another recent run-in with the law over the past year as he was arrested in his native Louisiana back in September.

The rapper along with 15 others were taken in on possession of schedule I drugs, manufacturing/distributing a schedule II drug, and manufacturing/distributing schedule IV drugs.

‘Kentrell is not guilty of any crimes,’ his attorney James Manasseh said in a statement to WAFB9

‘There’s nothing in the report that indicates that he did anything wrong. They arrested several people and there was no indication that he had any guns or drugs on him at the time of the arrest. I ultimately believe he will be found innocent in all of this.’

Manasseh told TMZ at the time that police were conducting illegal searches and detainments on a firearms tip, and NBA YoungBoy was unarmed. 

YoungBoy gained a cult following after releasing eight independent mixtapes between 2015 and 2017.

He went on to sign with Atlantic Records in late 2017 before reaching his first commercial success  as his fourteenth mixtape, AI YoungBoy 2, debuted in October 2019 and peaked at number one on the Billboard 200.

He then went on to release sixteenth mixtape 38 Baby 2 which also debuted on the Billboard 200 in April 2020 before releasing his second studio album Top in September which made it his third chart topping album in less than one calendar year.
