Alex Beresford revealed that he had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The Good Morning Britain weather presenter, 40, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a picture of him getting the vaccination.

He also joked that he knew he doesn’t ‘look old enough’ to be getting the vaccine, which was administered to him at a medical centre.

‘Completed it’: Good Morning Britain’s Alex Beresford, 40, revealed on Wednesday he has had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by sharing a snap via Instagram

Alex wore a short-sleeved white shirt to ensure the medical professional could administer the vaccine with ease, and he kept a surgical face mask on throughout.

Referring to how over-50s are currently being offered the vaccine, he wrote in the caption: ‘I know I don’t look old enough [laughing emojis] but I completed it mate! #vaccinated’

MailOnline has contacted Alex’s representatives for further comment.

Earlier this month, Piers Morgan, 55, announced he had quit Good Morning Britain after Alex challenged his polarising comments about Meghan Markle and her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The outspoken GMB host left the daytime series after he dismissed Meghan’s account of suffering suicidal thoughts and experiencing racism at the hands of the royal family as he insisted he ‘didn’t believe a word’.

Piers then walked off set after a fierce debate with Alex, in which the weather presenter accused Piers of unfairly ‘trashing’ Meghan, and branded him ‘diabolical’.

When Piers walked off screen, Alex continued: ‘I’m sorry but Piers just spouts off on a regular basis and we have to sit there and listen.’

Piers, who refused to apologise, later announced his resignation and tweeted his thanks to the GMB team, praising them for their ‘hard work and dedication’ that led to them beating their main breakfast TV rival.

He wrote: ‘I had one goal when I joined GMB – beat BBC Breakfast in the ratings. On my last day, we did it.’

Earlier this month, it was reported that Alex hopes to make it big in America after winning over numerous A-listers, including Oprah, following his tense confrontation with Piers.

It was claimed that Alex is in discussion with top American news networks, according to reports from The Sun

An insider disclosed that he has already been offered several big-money jobs from US TV companies, in addition to possible radio work and a book deal.

They said: ‘He sees this as his chance to be a global star – he was featured on the Wendy Williams show and has featured extensively in the New York Times and LA Times.

‘Alex has been so overwhelmed by the support he had to have a few days off work and he’s currently exploring all of his options’.

Alex – who is the father to Cruz, ten, with ex-wife Natalia Natkaniec – reportedly caught the attention of Oprah who conducted an explosive discussion with Meghan, 36, and Prince Harry, 36, which aired earlier this month.

The source added: ‘Alex has been inundated with messages of support from A-list stars close to Meghan including Beyoncé’s mum Tina who has been messaging him and even Oprah has reached out by following him on Twitter.’

According to the insider, he subsequently told his agent Jonathan Shalit that he wants to ‘crack’ America as he doesn’t want to be resigned to the position of a weatherman or breakfast TV presenter for the rest of his life.

A move across the pond would see Alex following in the footsteps of Piers, who secured his own TV show, Piers Morgan Live, in 2011.

On Saturday it was reported that Good Morning Britain had lost 500,000 viewers since Piers quit the show.

Good Morning Britain had managed to beat BBC Breakfast ratings for the first time in history with 1.89 million people tuning in to watch Piers and co-host Susanna Reid present the news on his last day.

But since the controversial host announced his permanent departure the show’s ratings plummeted to 1.7 million before falling again to 1.4 million.

Shares in ITV also plunged in the wake of his resignation with almost £200million wiped off the company’s value overnight and share prices dropping by 3.8 per cent.

Meanwhile, signatures on three petitions calling for Piers to be reinstated on Good Morning Britain have now reached more than 237,000.
