Sara Gilbert steps out for the first time amid former co-host Sharon Osbourne’s exit from The Talk

Sara Gilbert stepped out for the first time publicly on Saturday after her former The Talk co-host Sharon Osbourne and CBS ‘parted ways’ Friday, amid a racial investigation.

The 46-year-old former host and Executive Producer of the daytime talk show grabbed lunch with ex-wife Linda Perry and their son Rhodes in LA, proving to be amicable exes despite the storm brewing at her longtime workplace.

Gilbert has not publicly spoken out about the controversy that ensued with Osbourne, who has now left the show after defending her friend Piers Morgan and his comments about Meghan Markle. The show is still on hiatus.

The former child star kept it casual in distressed jeans and a black long sleeved shirt over a T-shirt.

She sported comfortable trainers on her feet and a grey face mask while carrying what looked to be a sippy cup for her four-year-old son.

Perry cradled Rhodes while strolling in grey joggers and a brown T-shirt with a stylish brown hat and matching face mask.

Though Gilbert legally filed for divorce from Perry on December 27 following five years of marriage, they have joint legal and physical custody over their son.

Perry spoke to Us Weekly about their split saying: ‘It’s life, man. Life is happening and you’re witnessing it. You know, this is a moment in life and people will get to witness it and… I’ve had incredible journey and I’m still on an incredible journey.’

Despite there seeming to be little to no bad blood between the pair, the same cannot be said for Gilbert’s once beloved talk show.

She has remained mum on the issues that have transpired over the past few weeks with Osbourne, after her defense of Morgan led to an emotional back and forth between she and co-host Sheryl Underwood.

Sharon was accused of being ‘racist’ after saying that Piers was entitled to his opinion. ‘I support him for his freedom of speech, and he’s my friend,’ she said on the show.

‘Educate me. Tell me when you have heard him say racist things,’ Osbourne fired back at one point, to which Underwood responded that his statements were an ‘implication,’ which troubled her as a Black woman.

Sharon then issued an apology on Twitter, writing ‘I am truly sorry. I panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive and allowed my fear and horror of being accused of being racist take over.’

The host of 11 years alleged that she was left out of the show’s usual planning meeting ahead of the broadcast where they go over which topics will be discussed.

She called it an intentional ploy by the network executives and producers to make her look bad and create good television, and CBS launched an internal investigation of the show’s climate and Osbourne’s allegations.

The show was put on hiatus in the interim and more allegations against Osbourne surfaced, actress Leah Remini (a one time host) unloading details in conversation with Yashar Ali.

She alleged that Sharon had referred to former host Julie Chen as a ‘wonton’ and called Gilbert a ‘p***y licker,’ during the show’s first season.

Osbourne’s camp fired back to CNN: ‘The only thing worse than a disgruntled former employee is a disgruntled former talk show host,’ adding that Sharon was ‘disappointed but unfazed and hardly surprised by the lies.’

When things continued to go south it was said that Osbourne had lawyered up with Eisner and attorney Jeremiah Reynolds, and and was demanding a big pay out. ‘The network will have to pay her a sizable settlement to keep her quiet after this,’ a source told Page Six

After a deep dive into the situation, CBS issued a statement that they had ‘parted ways’ with Sharon though a source told DailyMail.com that she was ‘forced to quit,’ and was thinking about suing for damages.

CBS’ statement read: ‘The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home. As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace. We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts.’

The show will return with live programming sometime in April with existing hosts Gilbert, Underwood, Elaine Welteroth and Amanda Kloots.
