‘She has a tram named after her, and she loves the bakery Greggs. She’s the show’s clown and is always playing pranks, especially on Martin.’

She said that while the cast and crew love ‘team drinks’ they will never sacrifice an intense day of filming for a night in the pub.

Maya explained that one of these social occasions was the first time she heard Martin’s real voice, because he refuses to drop his fake accent during filming.

She said: ‘Martin stays in his characters voice when filming. On the first social occasion we had, he went back to his strong Scottish accent and I thought he was putting it on as a joke until I was told it was his real accent.’

Maya – who played WPC Maneet Bindra on the show – had her throat slit after trying to infiltrate an organised gang during the opening episode of series five.
