With Disney pushing Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy back from May 21 to August 13, Lionsgate responded by pushing another Ryan Reynolds movie, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, up two months.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, a sequel to Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson’s 2017 action-thriller The Hitman’s Bodyguard, was pushed from August 13 to June 16, according to Deadline.

There will be no other movies opening on the Wednesday release, falling between the June 11 release of Warner Bros.’ In the Heights and Universal’s F9 on June 25.

The original movie The Hitman’s Bodyguard followed a former triple-A-rated protection agent named Michael Bryce (Reynolds), who has fallen from grace after allowing one of his clients to die.

He signs on to protect the notorious hitman Darius Kincaid (Jackson) and deliver him to The Hague, so he can testify a ruthless dictator (Gary Oldman).

Salma Hayek also stars as Kincaid’s wife, with Elodie Yung and Richard E. Grant rounding out the cast.

While the movie wasn’t a critical hit, with just 43% on Rotten Tomatoes, it was a modest hit at the box office.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard earned $75.4 million domestic and $176.6 million worldwide, from just a $30 million budget.

Reynolds, Jackson and Hayek all return to reprise their roles, along with Grant’s character Seifert.

They will be joined by new cast member Frank Grillo, who plays an Interpol agent seeking the hitman, bodyguard and wife’s help to stop a cyber attack in Europe.

Patrick Hughes returns to direct the sequel, from a script by original The Hitman’s Bodyguard writer Tom O’Connor and Brandon Murphy and Phillip Murphy.

Reynolds has a busy year lined up, with both The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard and Free Guy hitting theaters, along with Red Notice alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot arriving on Netflix as well.

Jackson also has three movies arriving this year, with Spiral arriving on May 14 and The Asset also arriving in 2021.

He is also slated to return as Marvel Cinematic Universe mainstay Nick Fury in the upcoming TV shows What If? and Secret Invasion.

Hayek is coming off of Bliss, which debuted in January on Amazon Prime Video, starring alongside Owen Wilson.
