Robert Irwin Jr. passes his driving test and takes his late father Steve’s utility truck for a spin to visit his baby niece Grace in hospital

Robert Irwin Jr. is officially a P-plater.

And to celebrate becoming a licensed driver, the 17-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce the exciting milestone. 

‘Passed my driving test!’ he wrote alongside a photo of himself holding a red P-plate while standing in front of his late father Steve Irwin’s utility truck.

The proud uncle also revealed his first drive ‘was a super special one’.

‘Took my dad’s old ute to see Grace in the hospital right after she was born,’ he said.

Robert’s niece Grace Warrior Irwin Powell is the first child of his sister Bindi and her husband Chandler Powell. The couple announced her birth on Friday.

In his first photo with his niece on Tuesday, Robert gazed at little Grace in the same way his late father Steve had looked at him when he was a newborn.

‘Let the uncle adventures begin! Love you so much, Grace,’ Robert wrote.

‘Wanna know how emotional I am? I cried when I saw the pics of Robert Irwin holding his sisters baby and the pic of his dad holding him as a baby,’ one person wrote.

Bindi and her husband Chandler announced the birth of their baby daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell on Friday.

Grace was born on the couple’s first wedding anniversary.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the new mother explained the baby’s middle name was inspired by her late father, who coined the term ‘Wildlife Warrior’.
