He is currently prepping for the July 2nd release of the much-delayed action drama film Top Gun: Maverick.

And while that movie and many others in Hollywood hang in the balance due to the pandemic, it seems Jon Hamm is enjoying his time out of the spotlight.

On Wednesday, the 50-year-old Mad Men star was pictured out in Los Angeles walking his beloved dog Splash.

Doing his thing: Jon Hamm was spotted taking in the bright springtime weather as he stepped out for a walk with his dog Splash in Los Angeles on Wednesday

Hamm cut a very casual figure as he wore a bright red t-shirt and a sleeveless black puffy jacket during his time with his rescue pup.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actor continued his springtime ensemble with a pair of gray shorts that fell to just above his knees and a set of black sandals.

He tied off his look with a pair of aviator-style sunglasses and a blue cap bearing his last name’s first initial, as well as an Apple Watch.

Although the actor appeared to be taking it easy during his walk, he is currently getting ready for the long-awaited release of Top Gun: Maverick.

In the sequel to the much-beloved 1986 film Top Gun, Hamm portrays Vice Admiral Cyclone, who will clash heads with star Tom Cruise’s character, Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell.

Other actors set to round out the cast include Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly and Ed Harris, among numerous others.

Val Kilmer is also set to reprise his role from the original movie as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.

Top Gun: Maverick was initially supposed to make its debut in the summer of 2019, although it was later moved up the schedule to June of the following year.

The film underwent several further delays, owing to post-production issues and the onset of the global pandemic, before it finally received a premiere date of July 2nd, 2021, where it currently stands.

In an interview with KSDK, Hamm spoke about his expectations for the upcoming film and expressed that, although the movie will feature high-flying action, it will have an emotional core as well.

‘It’s going to leave a lot of people with their minds blown I think…It’s really visually stunning. And I think people are going to be moved by the story as well,’ he said.

The Baby Driver actor also recalled his experience watching the movie in its post-production stage and noted that he was grateful for the opportunity to view the feature in person as opposed to having to screen it at home.

He remarked, ‘I got the good fortune to see it over the summertime. They opened a theater for us and we all had to sit 15 feet apart and wear masks and everything, but we got to see it on the big screen, which is the right way to see it.’
