Quavo breaks his silence about his elevator incident with ex-girlfriend Saweetie

Quavo has broken his silence about his shocking elevator incident with his ex-girlfriend Saweetie, amid a reported Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) investigation.

The Migos star, 29 – who split from the fellow rapper, 27, last month – claimed he’s wasn’t abusive towards her, after a clip of the then-couple engaging in a physical altercation from last year emerged.

Rapper Quavo, real name Quavious Keyate Marshall, told TMZ: ‘We had an unfortunate situation almost a year ago that we both learned and moved on from.

‘I haven’t physically abused Saweetie and have real gratitude for what we did share overall.’

The My Type hitmaker also spoke about the dispute in an official statement, insisting that the pair had reconciled after the fight, and blamed other problems for their recent break-up.

Saweetie, real name Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, said: ‘This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on.

‘I kindly ask that everyone respect my privacy during this time.’

It has been claimed that the LAPD is investigating the case as a possible domestic violence incident.

Police officers allegedly want to meet with the artists separately after detectives watched the surveillance camera video showing the former couple tussling over a Call Of Duty box, according to TMZ.

The incident could be considered an act of domestic violence where both the couple are in the wrong, according to sources.

The video was taken at a North Hollywood apartment complex where the Best Friend star was living, and begins with Saweetie swinging at Quavo.

Before he dodges her blows, the Bad And Boujee rapper drops the orange video game case, which she grabs before he charges at her and pulls her into the elevator.

The pair scramble over the box, before Quavo yanks on Saweetie’s arm, pulling her to the ground.

He gets up while the 5foot7 songstress appears to remain on the floor of the elevator, perhaps injured.

Quavo – who is 6foot2 – stands by, readjusting his bag while refusing to offer the still grounded Saweetie a hand.

The elevator door opens on another floor, revealing the legs of someone waiting who then decides not to get inside.

Quavo gathers his backpack and the box as the doors close and they go up another floor, where he gets off as she tries to pull herself off the ground via a nearby handrail.

He then looks back at the rapper and sets down the orange box to block the elevator door from closing as he appears to talk to Saweetie, who after several more moments finally steadies herself and limps off, clearly shaken.

Sources on both sides say that the altercation happened last year, months before their breakup was revealed earlier this month.

Saweetie confirmed the pair had split on March 19th via social media, suggesting the Motorsport rapper cheated as she told fans she’s ‘endured too much betrayal.’

‘I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character.’ The Icy Girl hitmaker wrote.

‘Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.’

‘I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom,’ she went on in another post.

‘Excited for this new chapter of elevation [Folded hands.]’

The duo sparked breakup rumors when they unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed the brunette beauty unfollowed the Hannah Montana rapper first, before Quavo returned the favor.

Adding fuel to the fire, Saweetie later gave an interview in which she declared ‘I don’t like liars’ but refused to confirm who she was referring to.

During an interview with Justin LaBoy on the Respectfully Justin YouTube channel, Saweetie was asked about the most disrespectful thing a man had done to her.

She responded: ‘He break your heart… it’s the last straw…’ but would not be drawn on who the man was.

‘I think it’s lying. It’s the principle, I don’t like liars.’ she added.

The pair’s romance began on Instagram in 2018 when he DM-ed her a snowflake emoji referencing her 2017 hit, ICY GRL.

I told her, ‘You an icy girl, you need a glacier boy,” Quavo (born Quavious Marshall) said in the August edition of GQ.

Saweetie replied: ‘And I sent him the stir-fry [emoji] back’ referencing Migos’ 2017 hit song.
