Staycation boom for holiday park owner Away Resorts: Bookings soar 47%

Staycation boom boosts holiday park owner Away Resorts as bookings soar 47%

In demand: Away Resorts’s Isle of Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park on the Isle of Wight

Holiday park owner Away Resorts saw a 47 per cent surge in bookings in February and March as Britons rushed to lock in plans for staycations.

The Government is planning to allow overseas trips to restart in time for the summer – but the risk of last-minute changes and potentially pricey quarantines has boosted demand for UK breaks.

Hotels and resorts hope this will throw them a lifeline after business was wiped out during the pandemic.

Away Resorts owns nine caravan parks in locations such as St Ives and the Isle of Wight.

In addition to recording its biggest-ever months for bookings, the number of people aged between 20 and 28 buying breaks has risen by a quarter.
