American Idol: Katy Perry urges teenage rock singer Casey Bishop to ‘make that stage your b****’

Katy Perry urged a teenage singer to throw her microphone and ‘make that stage your b****!’ on Monday’s All-Star Duets and Solos episode of American Idol.

The 36-year-old pop star was blown away by Casey Bishop, 16, who rocked out on Paramore’s Decode before belting Incubus’ Wish You Were Here with Brandon Boyd, 45.

The Estero, Florida, high schooler had fearsome pipes, and Katy wanted her to take her whole performance full throttle to show off the star she really was.

‘That voice and that attitude and that raw rock?’ Katy asked Casey afterward. ‘I wanted to see you throw bows. I want you to get a little bit angry and make that stage your b***!’

‘Woah, woah!’ Lionel Richie, 71, said, getting up and walking in circles before sitting down again.

‘Because that’s how you’re singing,’ Katy continued. ‘You’re singing with grit and you’re singing with teeth, and so I want you to embody it next time. And I know there’s gonna be a next time.’

Katy turned to Lionel and said, ‘Am I allowed to say that?’ then turned to Luke Bryan, 44, and said, ‘Sorry,’ no doubt apologizing for her choice of phrase.

‘You must listen to Katy, and you must trust what she is saying,’ agreed Luke, who’d claimed in auditions that Casey could win Idol’s 19th season.

‘Thrash it!’ Katy encouraged Casey, interrupting. ‘Thrash it! Throw the mic!’

‘You’re not grasping your potential yet,’ Luke went on, ‘but your voice is so world-class, and if you will get the persona, the vibe and walk out there and make it—what she said, ’cause she can get away with saying that—you’re a 16-year-old girl trying to bring rock back. So bring it back!’

‘I just want to prepare the crew: Are you going to thrash the stage next time?’ asked show host Ryan Seacrest, 46.

‘Yeah,’ Casey said, nodding.

Brandon earlier showed Casey the ‘superhero stance’—hands on hips—which he advised doing two minutes before she went on to gain extra confidence.
