The actor was promoting his critically acclaimed series It’s a Sin, when he opened up about his whole family contracting the novel coronavirus.

Harris began by saying that he’s, ‘on the East Coast, holed up with my family and we’re making the most of it.’

When asked if he’s still performing magic during the pandemic, he added that he now, ‘buy things at auction, little cool magic props and horde them and figure out how they work.’

‘Yeah I was filming The Matrix 4 in San Francisco, right at the beginning of the year, and then I came back and it was right at the end of March I started feeling not so well,’ he began.

He added they were ‘holed up, the lockdown started, then I lost my sense of taste and sense of smell.’

Harris confirmed that his husband, their twins and their friend Michael who was staying with them all contracted COVID-19.

‘It was early on so it was a little bit tenuous and scary, there weren’t any examples of anything, but no one had to be hospitalised,’ he added.

DeGeneres added that she caught COVID-19, but, surprisingly, her wife Portia de Rossi never caught it somehow, nor did anyone near her.

Harris said his twins are ‘miraculous’ and he misses them because they’re back in school, after having school at home for months.

‘As of last week, they were able to be with all the protocols, the masks and the six feet apart and getting tested all the time, so, Ellen, I’m free!,’ he joked.

The actor also introduced his new dog Ella, revealing that, ‘Santa brought Ella on Christmas morning.’
