DMX’s manager Steve Rifkind confirms the rapper is still alive but on life support

After numerous false reports surfaced that ailing rapper DMX had passed away on Thursday night, the rapper’s manager Steve Rifkind clarified he’s still alive.

The 50-year-old rapper (real name Earl Simmons) has been hospitalized since Friday night after suffering a drug overdose that triggered a heart attack.

He has been in the ICU on life support ever since, and while Rifkind confirmed the rapper is still alive, he made it clear he’s still on life support and still has a long road ahead.

‘DMX is still a live but he is on life support,’ Rifkind said in the caption of his video, posted on Instagram Thursday night.

‘Everybody, please stop with posting with these rumors. DMX is still alive. Yes, he is on life support, but please, it’s not helping anybody by seeing these false rumors,’ he began.

‘Let the family relax for a night. You’ll be hearing a statement from the family sometime tomorrow,’ Rifkind added.

He continued that he’s been with the rapper, ‘for the past three years, so the only thing that I ask is just stop with the rumors. He is still alive, and he is on life support.’

Comedian Luenell was seemingly the first to post about DMX’s death, taking to her Instagram story stating, ‘It’s over. My friend is gone. Soar with the (eagle emoji) Join the best that ever did it. RIP DMX.’

That was shared throughout social media, though she later took it down after it was confirmed the rapper is still alive.

DMX has been in critical condition on life support in the ICU since he was hospitalized, with a new report from TMZ claiming the rapper’s family is facing a difficult choice.

There has been no improvement in his brain functions, though the ordeal has brought the rapper’s family together even stronger.

The rapper’s mother, Arnett Simmons, fiancée Desiree Lindstron, ex-wife, Tashera Simmons and Yadira Borrego, mother to two of DMX’s 15 children, have formed a ‘tight-knit group’ along with all of the kids.

They have all been staying in his home and friends’ homes near the hospital he’s at in White Plains, New York, where he remains in a coma.

The report adds that, possibly as soon as Friday, the family must make the decision about whether or not to take him off of life support, with his mother Arnett having the final decision.

It’s possible that the family’s statement, which Rifkind said was coming tomorrow, could reveal their decision about whether or not to take him off life support.
