A man has been charged with murdering his own father in Wendover, a leafy suburb on the edge of the Chilterns.

Courtney Bamford, aged 36, who was living in a hostel in Griffin Lane, Aylesbury, is accused of killing his 77-year-old father John Bamford at his £555,000 Buckinghamshire home.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the three-bedroomed semi-detached house at twenty past five in the afternoon following reports of an assault.

John Bamford, who had run a double glazing business, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Courtney Bamford has been remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, April 10.

A neighbour of Mr Bamford told MailOnline: ‘All hell broke loose. I counted seven police cars, two ambulances and the air ambulance.’

He said he believed Mr Bamford had suffered fatal wounds after being ‘slashed’ with a knife.

The neighbour added: ‘He had been here for over 15-years. He used to have a lot of flash cars – Mercedes and Ferraris.’

A neighbour at the scene, who did not want to named, said Mr Bamford’s dog had been taken to safety after the attack.
