Today’s Daily Mail is the largest in the paper’s history with 144 pages featuring the Duke of Edinburgh who died yesterday morning in Windsor Castle, aged 99. 

Prince Philip, who was married to Queen Elizabeth II for more than 70 years. Across the nation, eight days of mourning began when the sad news was announced shortly after noon yesterday. 

Today’s paper features his wonderful life story and military career, including front-line service during World War Two. 

Such were his skills and bravery, Prince Philip was once tipped to ascend to the highest ranks in the Admiralty, until he sacrificed his own career to embark on a different, but equally vital one of public service. 

All those stories are contained in today’s record-breaking edition.
