Andy Lee reveals how he lost 7kg and then gained it all back amid COVID-19

Like many others, Andy Lee’s weight fluctuated amid the coronavirus pandemic with two unprecedented lockdowns in Melbourne.

Speaking to Body and Soul on Sunday, the comedian, 39, admitted to having lost and then gained seven kilograms with pubs closing and then opening up again.

‘When pubs were closed in lockdown, I lost seven kilograms. Pubs have opened back up and I have found those seven kilograms,’ he said.

Despite the changing number on the scale, Andy told the publication that exercise has been a great way in handling the stress of a pandemic.

In fact, it’s an activity both he and his model girlfriend Rebecca Harding, 30, love to do together.

‘We love exercising as a couple. She has me using bum bands, which have my glutes aching for days. We like going to Pilates and I occasionally agree to embarrass myself with yoga,’ he said.

Alongside HIIT (high-intensity interval training) sessions with Rebecca, Andy enjoys golf, field hockey and 10km walks.

While exercise is proving to strengthen their bond as a couple, other activities have had the opposite effect.

As the host of Channel 10’s game show The Cube, Andy recalled getting Rebecca to try out the games with him, joking how the pressure took a toll on their relationship.

‘Bec came out and played the games with me. And yeah, we are no longer together,’ Andy joked.

The Cube, which premiered in February, sees teams of two complete games such as estimating, calculating, throwing and catching, while confined to a perspex ‘cube’, in pursuit of the $250,000 cash prize.

Challenging: 'We had the advantage of not playing this show under pressure,' Andy continued. 'It doesn't have any safe zones. It's not like [Who Wants To Be A] Millionaire. You have to risk it all to keep going and the pressure becomes really high'

The couple have been together since 2014, despite a brief split in 2016, but didn’t go public with their romance until January 2015.

Andy and Rebecca met at a Melbourne cafe where she was working as a waitress. He left his email address for her on a napkin.
