Fans threaten to BOYCOTT the new season of The Real Housewives of Melbourne after Gina Liano and Lydia Schiavello exit the franchise

The official cast for the fifth season of The Real Housewives of Melbourne was announced on Wednesday, and many fans aren’t happy.

Long-time viewers have lashed out after learning that original cast members Lydia Schiavello and Gina Liano won’t be back.

Many flocked to social media to express their outrage, with a handful of fans vowing to boycott the series now that Gina and Lydia are gone.

‘No Gina, No Lydia – why bother?’ snapped one, while another wrote: ‘Please don’t bother releasing it without Gina & Lydia. There, I said it.’

‘Why no Gina and Lydia,’ raged another. ‘This season is gonna be crap.’

‘Gina being gone was a gut punch but they took Lydia from us too? Throw it away,’ wrote one.

Some fans also expressed disappointment that Pettifleur Berenger wasn’t back either despite her recent appearance on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Both Lydia and Gina addressed their exits in lengthy statement on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon.

‘The last four seasons have truly been an extraordinary journey, incredibly entertaining and good fun but with much consideration, I have made the personal decision to step away from RHOMelbourne,’ Lydia wrote.

‘I love the show, I love the girls and all the people involved from Foxtel to the production house Matchbox, however the changes of this world caused me to pause and re-evaluate my life.

‘I will miss the camaraderie the interaction with viewers and the challenges that my fellow cast members presented,’ she continued.

Meanwhile, Gina wrote: ‘A big congratulations to the cast of The Real Housewives of Melbourne season 5!!! How exciting and welcome to the 4 newbies.
