Mayweather’s promotional team described the fight as a ‘historic crossover event’ as the YouTube boxing phenomenon continues to take over the sport in a Tweet earlier this week.

The undefeated great has not stepped in a ring since defeating kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in just over two minutes on New Year’s Eve 2018.

His fight with Paul is the third time that Mayweather has been involved in a crossover event in recent years, having also fought UFC icon Conor McGregor in a £215million fight back in August 2017, which he won via a 10th-round stoppage.

It has not yet been confirmed who will be fighting on the undercard of Mayweather’s showdown with Paul, but reports claim Jean Pascal’s rematch with Badou Jack for the WBA ‘regular’ light-heavyweight belt will feature on it.

It will be the first time Mayweather has stepped into the ring since December 31, 2018

Former unified super-welterweight champion Jarrett Hurd will also reportedly return to action against Luis Arias on the show while another celebrity bout has been rumoured as well.

Mayweather, who made in excess of $1billion throughout his illustrious career in the ring, explained why he decided to fight 26-year-old Paul last month.

The 44-year-old to the Disruptive Entrepreneur podcast: ‘I can fight a fighter right now and I can guarantee myself $35million (£25m).

‘I can eventually probably make $50million (£36m), for just a regular fight.

‘Or me and Logan Paul can go out, entertain, have fun and make nine figures $100million (£72m) or more.

‘Everybody thinks that ‘retired’ means at home with your feet up and picking up weight.

‘I prefer to go out, still entertain and have fun.

‘Just because I still go out, entertain and have fun doesn’t mean that I still wanna fight for 12 rounds.

‘I think we’ve got a six-round exhibition. I think it’s gonna be very entertaining for the people, I think people are gonna love it.

‘$35million for 12 rounds or $100million for six rounds – big difference.’

Logan is joined in the YouTube boxing world by his brother Jake and drew against KSI – who also rose to fame on the online platform – in his first ever boxing fight before losing their rematch in a professional ring back in 2019.
