CFR Cluj star Ovidiu Hoban was spotted running along the street trying to flag down his team bus after it drove off without him.

The 38-year-old midfielder was seen waving his arms in the air and calling after the coach as it disappeared into the distance.

The hilarious incident came the morning after Cluj beat Academica Clinceni 1-0 in the Romanian top-flight on Thursday.

The team coach – which forgot to wait for Hoban – set off on the 450km journey back home and headed into the sunset without a worry in the world. 

However, the driver had clearly forgotten to wait for the midfielder – who was filmed running down the street in his club tracksuit on Thursday evening.  

Onlookers laughed at the hilarious situation while Hoban frantically waved his arms and ran after the bus which was beginning a six-and-a-half-hour drive. 

Having realised he was never going to catch up with the coach, Hoban pulled out his phone to call his team-mates.

Much to the Hoban’s delight a passer-by stopped to lend a hand – pulling up in a white Renault Clio to offer the Romanian a lift. 

The midfielder quickly jumped and began to chase after the team bus with the stranger. 

The incident came after table-topper Cluj saw off Academica Clinceni in their clash on Thursday. 

Catalin Itu provided the all-important goal to beat sixth place Academica Clinceni 1-0. 

Hoban – who joined the club from Israeli outfit Hapoel Beer Sheva in 2017 – only came off the bench with 12 minutes to go. 

Despite replacing Alexandru Chipciu in the 78th minute, if was Hoban’s efforts off the pitch the proved to be more notable.
