Fiorentina 0-2 Napoli: Lorenzo Insigne spot-kick and Lorenzo Venuti own-goal pile the pressure onto Juventus for Champions League qualification going into Serie A final day

  • Napoli faced Fiorentina in Tuscany on Sunday, the penultimate game of the term
  • A goalless first 45 passed before hosts keeper Bartlomiej Drągowski was sent-off
  • Lorenzo Insigne fired the following penalty before Lorenzo Venuti’s own-goal
  • Napoli are now left in a strong position going into the final day top-four battle  


Napoli have placed Juventus in severe danger of missing-out on Champions League qualification, beating Fiorentina to put themselves a point ahead of the Turin side with a game remaining. 

Lorenzo Insigne scored a penalty after hosts keeper Bartlomiej Drągowski was sent-off, before Lorenzo Venuti deflected Piotr Zielinski’s shot in to hand the Gennaro Gattuso side a sixth win in eight unbeaten matches. 

AC Milan take-on Cagliari on Sunday, where victory will mean Cristiano Ronaldo and Co require three points and either the San Siro side and Napoli to lose next weekend.
