AFL fan is ‘brutally assaulted by a group of rival supporters in the stands after verbal row dramatically escalated’ – as cops hunt four men seen on CCTV

A footy fan has been brutally assaulted by a fellow supporter after a verbal confrontation dramatically escalated.   

The incident unfolded at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the Anzac Day clash between Collingwood and Essendon on April 25.   

A 27-year-old man, who was involved in the dispute, removed himself from the situation and sat on the MCG concourse to watch the remainder of the game.

Police have released images of four mean they wish to speak to following the Anzac Day incident 

A group of men approached the victim and assaulted him at the end of the game before pushing him to the ground.

Security intervened and the group fled on foot. 

Police released footage on Wednesday of four men, who they believe are able to help with enquiries.

All four men are white in appearance, with one having a medium build, receding short brown hair, clean shaven and was wearing a black jacket and a Collingwood scarf.

The second man had an athletic build, with brown hair and was wearing a black jacket with a cream lining and a brown t-shirt.

The third man is described as having a solid build, with dark hair and a beard, and was wearing a black puffer jacket and black polo top. 

The fourth man is described as having light-coloured hair and was wearing a grey jumper, an Essendon beanie and scarf.
