What England’s unselected players are up to during their Euro 2020 clash with Croatia

Jesse Lingard gets on the cocktails at a pub, Jamie Vardy joins his wife Becky for a swim and Adam Lallana’s in the stands at Wembley! What England’s unselected players are up to during their Euro 2020 clash with Croatia

As England kick off their Euro 2020 campaign against Croatia, those who did not make the squad are marking the Three Lions’ opener in their own way.

A number of players were extremely close to making the final squad only to narrowly miss out, while others haven’t been involved in the set-up for some time.

One man who was as close as any was Jesse Lingard after a stunning season on-loan at West Ham from Manchester United.

The 28-year-old made Gareth Southgate’s initial 33-man squad and was then in the frame to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold when the Liverpool man pulled out with an injury.

Unfortunately for Lingard that last place went to Brighton’s Ben White, but Lingard has not let it affect him as he has been cheering on the Three Lions with his friends at a beer garden in Knutsford near Macclesfield.

The 28-year-old has posted a number of videos and photos to his Instagram account where is enjoying a cocktail and singing the national anthem.

He also shows his support to West Ham teammate Declan Rice, wearing his number four England shirt.

Alexander-Arnold who was part of the 26 man squad has not revealed what he is doing but did post a message of support to his England teammates.

The Liverpool full-back tweeted: ‘Good luck lads, bring it home.’

Brighton player Adam Lallana has not featured for the international team since 2018, after a number of injuries affected his playing time at then-club Liverpool.

But the 33-year-old has been pictured in the grandstands before the game got underway and is showing his support in person.

He was not the only former England international to be seen in the grandstands as the country’s leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney and now television pundit Jamie Redknapp were pictured with their families in the stands.

One player who doesn’t appear to be as fussed with the game is striker Jamie Vardy.

The Leicester star is enjoying his retirement from international football, and was pictured going for a swim with wife Rebekah on holiday.
