Euro 2020: England captain Harry Kane insists he is ‘not undroppable’ ahead of Scotland clash

Harry Kane insists he is ‘NOT undroppable’ as England’s No 1 striker after frustrating display against Croatia, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin pushing captain hard ahead of Scotland showdown on Friday

Harry Kane is adamant he is not an England untouchable as he gears up for Friday’s explosive Euros clash against Scotland.

The Three Lions captain has scored 34 goals for his country and is sixth in the all-time goalscorer list.

But Kane endured a frustrating afternoon in England’s win over Croatia on Sunday and was eventually substituted for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Nevertheless, the Tottenham striker is almost certain to lead the team out at Wembley against the Scots on Friday night – however Kane insists he does not believe his place in the team is guaranteed.

When asked whether he believes he is undroppable, Kane told ITV: ‘You will have to ask Gareth but I never look it at it that way.

‘[Whether I start on the bench] is not my decision. I will train as hard as I can to play and that is the aim to try and lead the boys out and win the games.

‘We have great competition for places. Dominic has come in and done great. For me it is about training how I train every day try and be the best and try and improve every day and when I play try and give my best for the team.

‘I think that is what everyone is doing at the moment and I am sure there will be rotation among all the players in this tournament – everyone is waiting for the chance to try and make an impact.’

Kane has also warned Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall that he will be looking to embarrass him for a second time on Friday night.

The Scots custodian was lobbed from 50 yards by Patrik Schick in Monday’s loss to the Czech Republic.

And Kane says he could look to repeat Schick’s audacious effort at Wembley, saying: ‘To see the keeper off the line is one thing but then to be able to put it in the back of the net is another.

‘That will probably the goal of the tournament that will be a hard one to beat.

‘Every now and then I will look for that one. The keepers today like to play as sweepers waiting for that ball in between so if there is a ricochet or an opening I like to try and look for that one.

‘You never know we might get another one this tournament.’
