Gary Lineker and Piers Morgan led the praise for Gareth Southgate‘s England who moved into their first European Championships semi-final in 25 years by thrashing Ukraine

The Three Lions marched into the final four of the competition – where they will play Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday night – by winning 4-0 thanks to a brace from captain Harry Kane, a Harry Maguire header and a fourth from substitute Jordan Henderson. 

Legendary England striker Lineker, who presented the BBC‘s Match of the Day Live, admitted he was proud of the national team and challenged the players to ‘keep it going’.

Lineker tweeted: ‘Very proud of our @England football team. They’re a credit to themselves, their families, their sport and their country, both on and off the pitch. Well played and keep it going, lads.’

Former Good Morning Britain presenter Morgan, meanwhile, revealed he was struggling to contain his excitement and remain grounded following the 4-0 victory, which is England’s biggest ever win at a European Championships knockout game. 

He tweeted: ‘I’m trying to stay calm. I’m failing. It’s coming home.’

Comedian Rob Beckett, whose wild celebrations were shared wildly on social media after the Three Lions beat Germany in the round of 16 last Tuesday, revealed he will be attending Wembley for the last four clash and is excited for the clash. 

Beckett posted: ‘I’m going to the semi finals of the Euros at Wembley and I’m going to lose my f****** marbles. Bucket hat on my head and up my a***. Come on England!’

Meanwhile, legendary TV presenters Ant and Dec tweeted: ‘Oh boy. Hard not to get carried away innit!?  #Euros2020 #ItsComingHome’

England internationals past and present also tweeted their delight in seeing England go comfortably through to the Euro 2020 semi-finals.

Jesse Lingard, who was cut from the extended squad named by Gareth Southgate at the start of the summer, claimed football is coming home when Kane scored his second and England’s third. 

The Manchester United midfielder tweeted: ‘3-0 , 100 percent coming home’

Meanwhile, former goalkeeper David Seaman – who was the penalty shootout hero the last time England were in a European Championships semi-final, tweeted: ‘This is amazing, this is fantastic, what a game!!!’  

England Euro 96 hero Darren Anderton added: ‘Well done @England on a great win. Getting better and better. Keep it going lads #ItsComingHome’

Boxing icon Tyson Fury, who is preparing for a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder later this month, posted: ‘iv not seen a beat down over Ukraine like this since Düsseldorf 28 November 2015’ 

The Gypsy King was referring to when he picked apart Wladimir Klitschko that night, dominating the score-cards and winning by unanimous decision.
