A LoganAir flight from Inverness to Birmingham has declared an emergency mid-air forcing it to divert to Edinburgh.

Flight LM582 – which took off just after 2pm today – transmitted code 7700 to air traffic control.

This informs them of a general emergency onboard, such as an issue with the aircraft or a medical emergency.

The flight turned around near the Scottish borders town of Peebles and diverted to Edinburgh Airport.

No further information has been released on what prompted the pilot to transmit the emergency code.
