Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne celebrate Euros win in Ibiza and Chelsea stars enjoy downtime

After a summer of international football that followed a hectic season at club level, Europe’s stars are enjoying some well earned time off.

With just a matter of weeks between the end of the Euros and the start of Europe’s major leagues getting underway again, players are making the most of the little time they have away from the pitch.

Kalvin Phillips has been seen in the past few days holidaying in Mykonos with England teammates including Mason Mount and Declan Rice, and he has now been soaking up the sun on a yacht with Ben White.

Phillips was one of England’s stars of their Euros campaign as they reached the final, with the Leeds midfielder starting seven matches in the tournament.

The 25-year-old was far from a certain starter in early June, but after a superb performance against Croatia in England’s opener, he quickly secured his place.White meanwhile is on the verge of securing a £50m move away from Brighton to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side.

The defender, who was a teammate of Phillips during the 2019/2020 season when he was loaned out to Leeds, is expected to finalise the move and complete a medical after the Gunners agreed a fee with Brighton.

Elsewhere, Thomas Muller put the disappointment of Germany’s Euros campaign behind him as he enjoyed some time on a beach in Sardinia with his wife.

The 31-year-old missed a big chance in his country’s last 16 clash with England, as they failed to reach the semi-finals of the Euros for the first time since 2004.

Muller will have to ensure he keeps himself in good shape, as when he returns to Bayern Munich he’ll have a new manager to impress.

Julian Nagelsmann has taken charge of the German giants, with previous manager Hansi Flick taking over the national side.

Italian duo Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne were in high spirits as they hit the beach in Ibiza.

A week on from winning the Euros at Wembley, the pair were seen kicking a ball around on the sand and spending time with their wives as they recuperated ahead of the new season.

Jorginho also played an important role as Italy went all the way, and while he is not yet expected back at Chelsea for pre-season, he is already spending time with one of his Blues’ teammates.

The 29-year-old posted a picture of him in Greece alongside Thiago Silva, who has extended his time at Stamford Bridge for another year.

While those two were focused on the sand and sun, Thomas Tuchel’s side got their pre-season fully underway with a comfortable 6-1 win over Peterborough.

The Blues face Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup on August 11, before their Premier League campaign starts against Crystal Palace three days later.

Kai Havertz will soon join Jorginho and Silva back in London, but until then he is happy enough in the company of a donkey.

The German, who was also on international duty over the summer, posted two pictures on social media, showing his love for the animal is long-standing.

Havertz has previously spoken of his desire to help with animal welfare and protecting donkeys, a cause close to his heart.

‘It’s funny, I loved donkeys as a kid very much, I think my first year it was always my favourite animal,’ he said.

‘So it was always a dream for me to have one someday and now it’s a good opportunity to help donkeys that are from the circus or things like that.

‘It will be a big project for me in the next years. As I said I try to do my best to help as many animals as possible, they are very important for us and for the world. I try to do my best to help them have a better life.’
