Australians in lockdown can now get DIY bao bun kits delivered straight to the door.

Food truck Tsuru is offering Sydney diners ready-to-cook kits – complete with fluffy bao buns, sauces, shredded lettuce, shallots and a choice of protein like chicken teriyaki, spicy pork belly, black pepper beef or tofu teriyaki and shiitake.

Each $50 kit comes with 800g of protein, 10 mini bao buns, two tubs of sauces and a recipe card to help customers assemble the feast for two.

To make 10 bao buns, you will only need to cook about half the meat supplied. 

‘Cook only what you need, and the leftover meat can be stored in the fridge until the expiry date on the label, or frozen for later use,’ the description read.

The protein can be served on a bed of rice, salads, burgers or sliders. 

‘The options are endless,’ it said.

The food truck is also offering a frozen bao kit for $70, which comes with two packs of 800g of your choice of marinated meats, 10 mini bao buns and four tubs of sauces – chipotle mayo for pork and beef or Japanese mayo for chicken.

And it’s not just bao buns on offer. Diners can recreate a yum cha feast at home with Tsuru’s kits – including BBQ pork buns for $15, an assortment of pork buns, prawn har gow and chicken shu mai from $25 or a feast to serve up to 15 people for $270.
