Tottenham confirm £21m summer signing of Bryan Gil from Sevilla in a move that sees Erik Lamela head in the opposite direction as Nuno Espirito Santo makes his first permanent signing as Spurs manager

Tottenham Hotspur have completed their first outfield signing of the summer after landing Bryan Gil from Sevilla in a £21million move which sees Erik Lamela head in the opposite direction.

The north London side confirmed the move on their Twitter account, moments after teasing the announcement with a tweet reading ‘Dos segundos’, which translates as Spanish for ‘two seconds’, in a response to a tweet from left-back Sergio Reguilon telling the club to announce the transfer of his Spanish compatriot.

Gil is the second arrival this summer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following the arrival of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta on loan.

Gil will not be able to join up with the Spurs squad for now as the midfielder is away on international duty with Spain at the Tokyo Olympics.

His arrival though also sees long time servant Lamela head for Sevilla following eight years at Spurs, with the north London side also bidding farewell to the Argentine with a tweet reading ‘A player who gave everything for the badge. Thank you Erik Lamela.’

Gil spent last season on loan at LaLiga Eibar but the 20-year-old impressed Spurs scouts despite the club being relegated.
