Real Madrid’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe dealt huge blow

Real Madrid’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe dealt huge blow after the PSG striker insists his ‘biggest dream’ is lifting the Champions League with the Ligue 1 side as France star puts distance between himself and LaLiga move

  • Kylian Mbappe has just one year left on his current Paris Saint-Germain contract
  • The 22-year-old has been linked heavily with a move to LaLiga giants Real Madrid
  • But, he has said his ‘biggest dream’ is to win the Champions League with PSG
  • He has also told Mauricio Pochettino he will not extend his deal beyond 2022

Kylian Mbappe has offered an insight into his future plans, claiming his ‘biggest dream’ would be to win the Champions League with PSG

The 22-year-old has just one year left on his deal at the Parc des Princes having scored 132 goals in 171 appearances since moving to the French capital from Monaco in 2017.

Mbappe has been consistently linked with Los Blanco, however, it seems unlikely that the Frenchman will make the move this summer as he says it would be ‘fantastic’ to win the European competition with the Ligue 1 side next term.

During an club interview with his PSG team-mate Neymar, Mbappe said: ‘My biggest dream would be to win the Champions League with PSG, it would be fantastic.’

Mbappe also admitted that international glory was on his mind, saying: Winning another World Cup would be great too.’

Mbappe has only just returned to pre-season after being handed an extended break following his international exploits with France at Euro 2020 this summer.

The forward could step back onto the pitch with the Ligue 1 side for the first time since the Euro’s when PSG play against Lille in the Trophee des Champions on August 1.

Following Mbappe’s most recent claims, it is reasonable to suggest he will see out the remaining 12 months on his contract in Paris.

However, Sportsmail previously reported that the forward had told Mauricio Pochettino that he did not want to extend his contract with the club beyond 2022.

Therefore, PSG face a decision as to whether they should hang onto Mbappe this season and risk losing him for a free this time next year, or simply cash in on the player in the current transfer window.
