Kanye West is ‘quietly advising’ ex-wife Kim Kardashian on her SNL gig

Kanye West is ‘quietly advising’ ex-wife Kim Kardashian ahead of her gig hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend.

The star is reportedly ‘nervous’ about taking the stage, and has looked to her former husband and frequent creative collaborator for guidance, according to Fox News

‘Kanye is quietly advising her on her performance, her opening monologue, even her costumes for the show,’ their sources said.

On Wednesday she was spotted making her way to NBC studios for rehearsals, appearing to be a little tense.

West has been integral to Kim’s styling through the years, and it was previously reported the pair would continue to work together on creative projects despite ending their marriage.

Though Kanye’s never hosted SNL he has appeared on the show seven times as a musical guest.

He last appeared on the show in 2018, donning a Make America Great Again hat and going on a pro Donald Trump rant after the broadcast.

While Kim is courting some nerves, she’s reportedly excited to prove herself on stage.

‘Its a big challenge but she is determined to be a success,’ the insider added.

Kim was seen making her way to NBC studios on Tuesday and again on Wednesday, wearing black Balenciaga like in days past.

She also reportedly shared dinner with SNL head-honcho Lorne Michaels on Tuesday night.

Last week Kim said she was feeling the ‘pressure’ ahead of her October 9th gig while showing off a floral arrangement that read ‘SNL’ from friend and designer Jeff Leatham.

Kim said on her Instagram Story: ‘Thanks so much for sending me these flowers. That is so amazing and I absolutely love them.’

She added: ‘The pressure!’

Although there’s buzz about the reality star’s SNL debut, actress Debra Messing questioned why Kim is hosting the legendary show.

The Will & Grace star asked fans if she was ‘missing something’ after the announcement, as while Kim is a ‘cultural icon’, those who front the programme are usually ‘performers.’

She wrote on Twitter: ‘Why Kim Kardashian? I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch. Am I missing something?’

SNL is hoping Kardashian is a big draw for viewers, especially following the rocky start to season 47.

According to Nielsen data obtained by The Wrap, last weekend’s Saturday Night Live drew a 3.5 household rating.

The numbers were about the same as the final two Season 46 episodes, but down 35% from the Season 46 debut.

The show does, however, typically suffer a post-election year slump, in part explaining the decline.

Last month it was reported that Kim and momager Kris Jenner met up with Lorne Michaels at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge.

‘Lorne wants her to do the show,’ an insider told KNEWZ last month, noting Michaels was hoping to get Kardashian to do the premiere.

Though the meet up sparked hosting rumors almost immediately, at the time a source bluffed and told The Hollywood Reporter that the momager, 65, and KKW Beauty founder’s ‘meal was not about any specific project, but rather a general catch-up.’

She’ll be the first Kardashian to host, although estranged husband West last controversially appeared on the show in 2018 during his pro-Trump era.

Meanwhile, Kim recently enjoyed some screen-time playing Dolores the poodle in the highly-anticipated PAW Patrol: The Movie.

Though her family’s flagship reality show lasted 20 seasons, her scripted credits are a little less robust.

The mother-of-four previously appeared 2008’s Disaster Movie, Deep in the Valley (2009) and Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor (2013).

Kim Kardashian’s episode of Saturday Night Live featuring musical guest Halsey airs October 9th, at 8:30PM PST/11:30PM EST on NBC.
