A stunning $540 million dollar complex in St Kilda has attracted the likes of high-profile stars and wealthy businessmen with some strange requests. 

Three of the famous names that have bought in at the luxury block are cricketer Shane Warne, footy personality Sam Newman and businessman Antony Catalano. 

The developer of the Saint Moritz project, Tim Gurner, told the Herald Sun that there have been some odd requests from certain buyers wanting to change the design of their apartments and penthouses.

Gurner revealed some of the requests he had gotten included hidden rooms, a gym in a bathroom, one wanting a ‘bath in a living room looking out (at the view)’ and another who requested a ‘sculptural shower’.

‘We have had a request for a three metre by three metre room behind the wardrobe with a plaster wall,’ Gurner said. ‘I have no idea why.’

‘But we have made sure that these will add value to the apartment, not devalue them,’ he added.

Many of the buyers, according to the developer, are ‘locals who have lived in St Kilda and owned a business there for decades’ and ‘some incredible sporting personalities that bring a lot of colour to the building’.           

It’s inferred that most of the sporting stars that are purchasing homes at the complex are international cricketers.   

Exactly 40% of the buyers so far have been families in the area.

While Warne and Newman are understood to have chipped in to purchase a home, Catalano is said to have snatched up a $30 million dollar penthouse at the complex.

Property owners at the pricey complex have paid between $1.8 to $30 million for a piece of their own real estate, with the average purchase price coming in at $5.2 million. 

Most of the buyers will have the homes turned over to them next year when Gurner completes the project in early 2022.
