The Bachelorette: Jess Franklin slammed by suitors over ‘dog act’ of betraying Konrad Bien-Stephens

The Bachelorette’s first cocktail party explodes into drama as Jess Franklin’s ‘dog act’ of betraying Konrad Bien-Stephens leaves the other suitors branding her ‘disrespectful as hell’

The first episode of The Bachelorette was dripping with drama on Wednesday night, as a rude act of betrayal left the suitors gasping in shock.

During the drama-filled episode, carpenter Konrad Bien-Stephens, 31, made a ‘love seat’ with Brooke Blurton while meeting her on the red carpet, with the intention of having their first romantic chat on it at the cocktail party that evening.

But in a devious twist, Jess Franklin decided she would grab the Bachelorette for a chat first – and headed right to the love seat with Brooke, 26.

Not happy: On Wednesday’s The Bachelorette, carpenter Konrad Bien-Stephens was left furious after Jess Franklin took Brooke Blurton for a chat on the love seat that he had made with her – causing havoc amongst the suitors

‘Shots fired,’ Konrad said to the group as he saw Jess heading to the seat, before telling the camera: ‘I think everyone was in shock at the same moment. How disrespectful.’

A female voice from a group was then heard saying: ‘Absolutely how dare you. I think it’s absolutely disrespectful as hell,’ while another burst out with: ‘The audacity!’

In a piece to camera, Darvid Garayeli, 27, scathed: ‘I’m not happy at all with Jess. Jess taking Brooke to the love seat was definitely a dog act.’

No shame! When asked by some of the fellow suitors if she had pre-planned taking Brooke to the seat, she replied: 'Yeah. It is what it is. I sort of wanted to take her somewhere nice'

‘I’m feeling a bit hurt. It had more meaning than being a seat. It was something that we were meant to sit on and cherish, and she’s just gone and tainted that moment,’ Konrad said.

When asked later on by some of her fellow suitors if she had pre-planned taking Brooke to the love seat, Jess replied: ‘Yeah. It is what it is. I sort of wanted to take her somewhere nice.’

Despite making the rest of the cast gasp in shock, she told the camera: ‘I don’t think that I have any regret that I’ve stolen Konrad’s time to shine.

Not having it: He later confronted Jess on the bench, and enjoyed a sweet chat with Brooke herself on the planks they had created together

‘You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, and it was sort of just… a bit of fun.’

Earlier in the episode, Konrad had revealed to the camera how much the love seat meant to him.

‘I did find a nice spot for it in the backyard,’ he said.

‘I think I made it pretty clear with everyone that I thought it would be nice and respectful if everyone let Brooke and I have the first opportunity to have the first chat on the love seat.’

The Bachelorette continues Thursday at 7:30pm on Channel 10
