Bruno Fernandes tells Jesse Lingard his biggest pre-match superstition, discusses feeling Mancunian and wanting to be at Manchester United for ‘many years’… and questions Fred’s taste in music after a win at Old Trafford!

- Fernandes needs to go to bed straight after the coffee or he will not sleep
- The Portugal star also discussed the Mancunian accent and United’s music taste
The Portuguese midfielder has started this season in promising form, with four Premier League goals in eight games since the start of the campaign.
In a conversation with fellow Red Devils star Jesse Lingard, Fernandes admitted that his pre-match coffee drinking is a vital superstition to help him prepare for games.

The 27-year-old told Lingard for the KFC YouTube channel: ‘The day before the game, I always have to eat something in my (hotel) room. So we have dinner, then after dinner at 11pm or 11.30pm, I have to have my cappuccino.
‘If I take my cappuccino and I go straight to bed, (then) I can sleep. If I drink the cappuccino and I wait, there is a problem.’
Lingard and Fernandes discussed all things away from football, such as the England midfielder’s childhood crush on Spice Girl Emma Bunton and the Portuguese star’s understanding of the Mancunian accent.
When Lingard asked the Portuguese midfielder if he feels like a Manchester native a lot more, Fernandes responded: ‘Yeah I little bit, I will be more (of a Mancunian) I hope. I hope to be here, like you, for many years, and with you (in the team).

‘Sometime’s it’s difficult to understand (the accent). I like the way you talk, because in Portugal we have the same. If you ask Cristiano, he will say me and Diogo (Dalot) speak in different ways.’
The pair also gave an insight into the Old Trafford dressing room. Fernandes is in control of the music in the United dressing room and allows other players to add a couple of their own songs to the playlist.
But the Manchester United midfielder has an issue with one Red Devils star’s music choice in particular.
The Portugal star revealed that Brazilian midfielder Fred always has his pick played first after a Manchester United victory, with Fernandes claiming he is set to change that song order.

Fernandes added: ‘Before, I was looking to make a (play)list where everyone could go and pick two or three songs. They put it there and we just go round.
‘The only problem we have is that the first song after a win is (from) Fred, so we have to change that.’
Both Lingard and Fernandes are currently preparing for Manchester United’s crucial Premier League derby with Liverpool on Sunday, after a poor run of form in England’s top-flight.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are winless in their last three league fixtures and currently lie in sixth place in the table, four points behind second-placed Liverpool.
