The Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, during the press conference on the progress of the economy so far, was asked about the fiscal amnesty. The minister stated that the fiscal amnesty cannot legalize illegal constructions.
“We have been very clear about the purpose of the fiscal and criminal amnesty. At the end of last year, the Albanian government undertook an extensive questionnaire addressed to the entire population. Most of them, over 60%, expressed that they were in favor of fiscal and criminal amnesty in order to legalize the income of immigrants. Albanian law is a law that operates in Albania and has no extraterritoriality. It is a law that operates within the borders of Albania and this law will be applied to all Albanian citizens. As for the fiscal amnesty, will it legalize sources, or is it related to the confiscations that are being carried out now… There can be no legalization of an illegal construction. So it is not intended, you know very well that the fiscal amnesty started as a discussion process a long time ago, long before the last legal initiatives were taken”, said Ibrahimaj.
Minister Ibrahimaj said, among other things, that the Transparency Boards have respected the normative act and will continue to be active until this situation exists./broread
