The date of the local elections, Begaj starts meetings with the heads of parliamentary groups

The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, is expected to gather the heads of the parliamentary groups in the Presidency to decide the date of the local elections that will take place next year. As journalist Klesiana Omeri learns, at 13:00 Begaj is expected to meet with the “Alliance for Change” group led by Fatmir Mediu. Meanwhile, the head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, will meet with the head of state on Thursday at 9:00.

Officially, there are 4 parliamentary groups in the parliament, that of the SP led by Taulant Balla; that of the DP led by Enkelejd Alibeaj; “Alliance for Change” by Fatmir Mediu and the group “Democracy and Integration” led by Mesila Doda.

Meanwhile, we remember that yesterday the head of state met with Prime Minister Edi Rama. However, there has been no official reaction if there was a discussion between the two leaders regarding the date for the elections.

Today, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting with the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta. The meeting between the parties lasted about 30 minutes.

On Monday, the DP leader confirmed that the opposition will form a broad-based coalition for next year’s local elections. Berisha said that the DP’s allies, apart from the Freedom Party, will also be other parliamentary and non-parliamentary parties./broread
