PS, 3 times more. PD has not declared the donations

The Socialist Party and the Democratic Party risk being fined up to 10 million old Lek due to legal violations found in the audit report made by the Central Election Commission for the electoral campaign of April 25 of last year.

According to the document, the socialists exceeded by three times the allowed value of spending from public funds, bringing it from 55,826,750 to 172,046,612 old Lek.

The audit also notes that the SP has not submitted the reports for 17 candidates from the lists with many names and that written corrections have been made in the submitted documents.

For both of these violations, the Electoral Code provides for a fine ranging from 5 to 10 million old Lek.

But unlike the socialists, the Democratic Party has a major problem with the issue of transparency. The CEC audit shows that 50% of the candidates lack the declarations of donors on the conflict of interest. Even in the case of the Democrats, the fine varies from 5-10 million old Lek for the detected violations.

The issue of financing political parties has sparked quite a debate in recent months. Socialists have put forward the idea of amendments to the law, which seems to have found the support of the CEC and the Democratic Party, while the latter have set up an audit commission to make the Russian finances transparent at the time when the blue seat was headed by Lulzim Basha.
