The two factions within the Democratic Party are holding talks between them to unite the Democrats and emerge with a candidate in the 2023 local elections.

These talks are being conducted by Edi Paloka and Gazment Bardhi on the other side.

The latter, a link to the Opinion show on Tv Klan, was asked by journalist Blendi Fevziu if they really want the merger of the DP.

In his answer, Bardhi emphasized that coming out with a common candidate in the local elections is the only way to challenge the socialists.

Blendi Fevziu: What’s stopping you from joining?

Gazment Bardhi: There is a conflict that has been going on for 1 year on numerous issues within the Democratic Party.

Blendi Fevziu: You will come out with two parties, you will be more defeated in the elections, you will get some municipalities with a number, what will you gain if you are divided?

Gazment Bardhi: This is not the purpose of the talks. The purpose of the talks is how to find the right way for the democrats in the local units to cooperate behind a common candidate of the entire opposition in the local elections.

Blendi Fevziu: You put them to the vote, the vote decides who runs. Are you penalized by the vote? They don’t approach you or you don’t want to be voted?

Gazment Bardhi: No, it has nothing to do with what you say. The vote is what can determine the candidates of a political party in the elections, but local elections have a specificity that is about the election of local leaders who will be mayors. The candidate can be a person who goes beyond a political party. Ahead we have a battle with our only opponent, which is Edi Rama. The talks that we have started have been completely constructive talks that both of us have expressed our views on how to build a bridge for the cooperation of the Democrats in all local units to win the local elections and the talks are only about these issues.

Blendi Fevziu: Do you really want to join or are you worried about who is left behind?

Gazment Bardhi: When I talk about constructive talks I refer to this question. With complete sincerity, believing that it is the only way to face Edi Rama in the local elections, I have ascertained from the talks with Mr. Paloka that the same approach is also from him. There are still other issues being discussed on how we can come up with a common candidate. From the first day we have expressed our full will to enter into these talks without any conditions and we do not accept any conditions. I have seen the same thing affirmed by Mr. Berisha. Talks are going on in this spirit to see who is the best way. /broread
