The negotiations between Gazment Bardhi and Edi Paloka to come up with a joint candidate of the Democratic Party in the May 14 elections have failed. This was announced by an official announcement from the group led by Enkelejd Alibeaj.

An announcement says that the group led by Enkelejd Alibeaj “expresses regret that in opposition to the pledge for unconditional talks”, according to the group led by Alibeaj was decided “the condition to recognize the statute established by the “11 December Assembly of the DP”.

The announcement states that it is “constantly rejected every proposal” made by the group led by Alibeaj and this according to them is “indicator of lack of sincerity and will to find solutions”.

Among other things, the group directed by Alibeaj emphasizes that “the fact that while the parties were in talks among themselves, one party continued with unilateral acts or with public statements of some political representatives that went in the spirit of encouraging the failure of the talks between the parties”.

The group led by Enkelejd Alibeaj requested to inform the Presidency of the Democratic Party, with the aim that, according to them, “to pave the way for the creation of all conditions for the preparation and participation of the Democratic Party in the upcoming local elections.”

We remind you that the Chairman of the National Council of the DP, Edi Paloka and the MP of the DP Gazmend Bardhi were mandated as negotiators by the parties to come up with a common candidate in the DP in the May 14 elections.

Announcement of the group led by Enkelejd Alibeaj:

“On October 10, the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party unanimously expressed its full and sincere will to find the right forms of cooperation for the local elections, starting with the entire Democratic Party and with every opposition factor.

This sincere opportunity for cooperation, with the aim of uniting every opposition voice and facing a single candidate of the DP and the opposition in the elections, in the assessment of the Parliamentary Group of the DP, was the only solution to face the regime of Edi Rama in the elections local.

We regret that, contrary to the public commitment to “talks without conditions”, the interest and the condition to recognize the “Statute” of December 11 prevailed, thus undermining the talks to find a solution for the local elections. Members, sympathizers and voters of the Democratic Party are tired of the debate “who is the current charter of the Democratic Party”. They seek solutions to unify every opposition voice in front of Edi Rama in local elections. Losing this opportunity stubbornly and ignoring the serious situation that the Democratic Party is going through, is not in the interest of the citizens and weakens the alternative of the opposition in the local elections of May 14.

The continuous rejection of every proposal made by us, including the final proposal presented in writing, is indicative of the lack of sincerity and the will to find a solution. This refusal proves the premeditation of not finding a solution and putting the other party in front of the committed fact. This is evident from the fact that while the parties were in talks with each other, one side continued with unilateral acts or with public statements of some political representatives that went in the spirit of encouraging the failure of the talks between the parties.

Based on this situation, the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party has requested to inform the Presidency of the Democratic Party, in order to pave the way for the creation of all conditions for the preparation and participation of the Democratic Party in the upcoming local elections”. it is stated in the announcement of the group led by Enkelejd Alibeaj.
