“Primary candidates will have 21 days for campaign, introduction and runoff”

The number of candidates who will compete in the PD primaries for Tirana has gone up to three to determine the candidates who will represent the opposition in the May 14 local elections. After MP Belind Kelliçi and former MP Gert Bogdani, the doctor Ilir Alimehmeti has joined the primaries race in the blue seat.

“I come before you to dedicate myself completely to Tirana and its community, as our Tirana is sick and in a state of crisis, my friends. Tirana has all the possibilities to heal and revive, its values and beauty can be renewed, but this can only happen through work, effort and sweat”. said Alimehmeti.

The Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations stated that, unlike the previous primaries, in the primaries for local election candidates, a runoff will also be decided.

“Setting the runoff as an instrument to determine the winner in the primaries and this makes a lot of sense when the community votes to choose the best candidate to represent the DP”, said Eno Bozdo.

Applications for participation in the primaries in Tirana, Durrës and Elbasan will be closed on November 6, while after review by the leadership of the DP, on November 13 the names that will compete in the primaries will be officially published. Starting from this date, candidates in the primaries will have 21 days to campaign within the party. DP has set December 4 as the closing date for the primary process for candidates for the May 14 elections.
