MPs are looking for common candidates

The old presidency of the Democratic Party gathered by Enkelejd Alibeaj decided to support the decision of the parliamentary group to end the negotiations with the other party to find joint candidates for the local elections. In a statement to the media, after almost three hours of meeting, Alibeaj said that the Presidency had decided to start work on the preparation of the next local elections.

“The presidency unanimously supported the positions of the Parliamentary Group during this time. The Presidency supported it and it will now continue with the organization of the elections, on Friday another meeting of the Presidency, to proceed to the local elections”.

Referring precisely to the negotiations with the other side, he said that the solution cannot be unilateral.

“This is not done unilaterally, to choose the winning candidate, 50% from the Primaries and 50% from the polls. In this case, it is a mechanism that pleases everyone. ‘Come get to know me’ doesn’t work”

But not all of those MPs who lined up in his group support this position of the group and the presidency. They say that on May 14, the Democratic Party should come up with a single candidate in the local elections.

“All together to overthrow the regime of Edi Rama. All together with one candidate. In 2013, you remember the expression let all the stinkers come together, while today I call for all the ladies and gentlemen of this country to come together to save the country from Edi Rama’s regime.”

In the conditions of a repeat of a scenario similar to that of March 6, where the two groups within the Democratic Party came up with separate candidates, the allies preferred to stay out of the debate.

Dashamir Shehu: We do not join any. Why what are we, sheep to unite? With no one, with ourselves.
