“We still haven’t resolved the Kosovo-Serbia issue”

Alongside French President Emmanuel Macron in one of the panels of the Peace Forum being held in Paris, Prime Minister Edi Rama pointed out the dangers that threaten the Western Balkans.

“The Balkans has so far managed to stay away from conventional war, being the weakest link in the chain. If we talk about the community, European politics, if you are there at the same time we have our weaknesses because we know very well that in the Balkans, Russia has the greatest potential influence and can cause the greatest damage due to divisions historical in the Balkans that are still present”, said Rama.

Rama welcomed France’s recent engagement in resolving open issues in the Balkans, the most important of which remains the one between Kosovo and Serbia.

“We have a big issue in the Balkans which is the issue of final peace between Serbia and Kosovo, but at the same time it is really important to see that the Balkans are united”, said Rama.

Rama said that he supports the idea of President Macron for the European Political Community. The head of Eliza himself showed the intentions of this initiative.

“How can we solve our problems within Europe, not only as EU member states, but also beyond the European Union, for solutions that have to do with our historical and geographical realities. We need to restructure and have a regional structure“, Macron said.

During the panel, there were also jokes between Rama and Macron.

“First of all, Mr. President, you are very brave to set a time limit and invite people from Latin America, Africa and the Balkans. So hats off to you. So now I understand why Putin wants to hug you“, said Rama.

“Thank you very much Eddie. We said that we had an hour and whatever Edi Rama says, we have respected this schedule”, Macron said.

The head of the Albanian government also participated in the Panel “International Mobilization for the Observatory for Information and Democracy” where our country has officially submitted the request for accession to the International Partnership for Information and Democracy.

Rama was also part of the dinner organized by Macron at the Elysee Palace with all the heads of state that are part of this forum.
